Yeovil eye Pardew for manager role

Alan Pardew and Leroy Rosenior have emerged as candidates for the post of Yeovil manager following yesterday's departure of Russell Slade.

Slade, who took the League One club to the play-off final in 2007, had recently steered Yeovil clear of the relegation zone with four successive victories but relations with the board had become untenable.

Pardew, who left Charlton earlier this season, is a former Yeovil player. The Bristol-based Rosenior is used to working on the type of budgetary constraints which are thought to have precipitated Slade's exit after two-and-a-half years.

Another contender is assistant manager Steve Thompson who is expected to take charge of the team for tonight's match at Bristol Rovers, and has twice previously managed the Glovers.
