The Peterbrough manager Darren Ferguson said he hopes to secure a permanent contract for the on-loan Eagles defender Jeff Hughes (right) when the transfer window opens next month. "I would love to get Jeff here permanently," Ferguson said. "He has done well for us," Hughes has made five appearances for the League Two side.

Southampton
Leon Crouch has been re-appointed as chairman after previously holding the position last summer. "I will do everything I possibly can to help us get back into the Premier League," the 58-year-old said. "We will work closely with manager George Burley to push for promotion."

Cardiff City
The club's FA Cup match with Chasetown next month will be played at the non-league side's 2,000-capacity stadium, after the British Gas Midland Division side were granted permission to stage the tie. The club will erect temporary seating for the game. "We are delighted with the outcome and are confident of staging a safely controlled game," Chasetown chief executive Mick Joiner said. The game on 5 January will kick off at 1pm.

Norwich City
Ian Murray said he may return to Scotland as he looks for regular first-team action. "I like it at Norwich and we have a great bunch of lads," the 26-year-old former Rangers player said. "But I just need games. I would consider going back to Scotland." Murray has featured just once for the Canaries since the arrival of Glenn Roeder in October.

League One

Oldham Athletic
The manager John Sheridan has described a 10-point haul from the club's next four games as his ideal Christmas gift. "That'd be a great bonus for me better than any present," Sheridan said. "But it's going to be very difficult."

Gillingham
Mark Stimson believes that, despite fielding youth players in his first team recently, the club require experienced players if they are to mount a promotion challenge. "You can't have 11 youngsters running around," he said. "You need a bit of experience."

Nottingham forest
Kevin Wilson is a doubt for tomorrow's match with Port Vale after suffering a thigh strain. "We may leave it to Saturday to make a decision," manager Colin Calderwood said. "We don't want to run the risk of a prolonged spell on the sidelines."

League Two

Bury
The on-loan midfielder Lee Bullock has rejected an offer from the Quakers of a permanent contract, opting to return instead to Hartlepool. "That's his decision," Director of Football Keith Alexander said. "As they are a division above us, you can understand that."

Chesterfield
Lee Richardson said he is reluctant to field Jack Lester against Mansfield tomorrow. The striker has only recently recovered from an ankle injury. "It would not be fair to give our supporters the impression that he was certain to play," Richardson said.
