Watford Adrian Boothroyd would be interested in becoming a part of Fabio Capello's England set-up. At his unveiling this week, Capello spoke of his wish for an English coach to work with him. "I think any English coach would love to do whatever they can to make sure our national side is successful," the Hornets manager said. "We all want to do that."

Leicester City Ian Holloway said he has decided against signing Plymouth duo David Norris and Barry Hayles, after interest from the Foxes caused anger at his former club. "I was very proud of the Plymouth fans," Holloway said. "I don't want to raid their team. I am going to move on and find other targets."

West Bromwich Albion Tony Mowbray has admitted he would be held responsible if the Baggies fail to get promoted this season. "The time to judge is at the end of the season," the manager said. "Then we will know how many points we have and where we finish. If we miss out again, I will take the criticism."

Preston North End Alan Irvine believes Neil Mellor and Paul Gallagher can help the Lilywhites rise up the table. "This is an opportunity for them to show they can play at this level," the former Everton assistant manager said. "They've played in the Premier League and have shown they can be successful there."

Burnley Joey Gudjonsson's appeal against the red card he received against Preston last weekend has been rejected by the Football Association Disciplinary Commission.

League One

Hudderfield Town Bristol City striker Phil Jevons said he would like to make his loan spell at the McAlpine Stadium permanent after scoring three goals in five appearances since arriving from the Championship side. "This is a great club with a great set of players," he said.

Bristol Rovers Paul Trollope said he is keen to add to his squad in next month's transfer window. "We have a few people in mind we think would add to the squad," he said. "With players coming back from injury, we are hoping January will be a month when we kick on."

Walsall Saddlers manager Richard Money believes the squad currently at his disposal negates the need to bring in new players in next month's transfer window. "I have to say we will do well to find better than the players we already have here," he said.

League Two

Rotherham The manager Mark Robins believes goalkeeper Jamie Annerson has a big future ahead of him, as the 19-year-old returns to parent club Sheffield United following a loan spell at Millmoor. "Jamie always gave his best," Robins said. "He knuckled down, trained hard and was a credit to himself."

Bury The Director of Football Keith Alexander has confirmed that Lee Bullock will not be returning to Gigg Lane following his recent loan spell at the club. "We did offer a contract to Lee," Alexander said. "But he has decided to stake a claim for a place at Hartlepool."

Lincoln City The Doncaster goalkeeper Ben Smith has had his loan spell at the club extended after impressing at Sincil Bank. Smith has played five games for the Imps and will now remain at the club for a further month.
