Sergi Canos agrees £2.5m switch from Liverpool to Norwich
Spaniard has chosen move to East Anglia side ahead of offers from a number of other Football League clubs

Canos agreed a four-year deal at Carrow Road on Tuesday, choosing Alex Neil’s side over Bristol City, Fulham and Brentford, all of whom had made offers to sign the 19-year-old winger. Queen's Park Rangers and Reading were also interested in the highly-rated Canos but could not meet Liverpool’s asking price.
Canos spent last season on loan at Griffin Park and excelled there, making 18 Championship starts and scoring seven goals. But he decided over the weekend that Norwich City had the best chance of promotion to the Premier League in the upcoming season.
Norwich manager Alex Neil still has the majority of his players who were relegated from the top-flight last season, even after the sale of Nathan Redmond to Southampton. Premier League champions Leicester City are very interested in signing Robbie Brady, but Norwich are still confident of keeping hold of experienced performers Steven Naismith and Wes Hoolahan.
Liverpool signed Canos from Barcelona in 2013, after the Valencia native had joined La Masia at the age of 13. After his loan spell at Brentford finished, he made his Liverpool first-team debut in the final week of last season. Canos played the last nine minutes of the 1-1 draw at West Bromwich Albion. He described it afterwards as a “dream come true” and “the best 10 minutes of my life”.
But it was apparent from soon after that Canos would be leaving Anfield. He was coming up to the final year of his contract, meaning that Liverpool were risking him leaving for nothing to a foreign club if they could not agree a new contract. But Liverpool only offered him £3,000 per week, less than he could earn elsewhere, prompting Canos to pursue a move away from Anfield.
