Rovers set replay date
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Tranmere Rovers have confirmed that their Second Division match against Mansfield Town, which was abandoned at half-time on Saturday on police advice after a man had climbed onto the roof of a stand at Prenton Park, will be replayed tomorrow evening with free admission for all spectators.
Rovers were leading 2-0 when the man allegedly climbed the floodlight before jumping onto the roof of the Cow Shed Stand. The referee then called a halt to proceedings. Merseyside police have charged a man with threatening behaviour, being drunk at a designated sporting event and aggravated trespass in connection with the incident. He will appear before Wirral magistrates this morning.
Crewe secured their return to the First Division at the first attempt on Saturday with a goalless draw at Queen's Park Rangers. That point and Cardiff's 0-0 draw with Wigan sealed second place for Crewe. QPR remain in line to qualify for the play-offs, as they would have to lose their game at Colchester next week and see Tranmere win their last two matches, while making up an inferior goal difference of 17, to miss out. At the bottom, Mansfield and Huddersfield Town were relegated.
