The club's former Republic of Ireland striker flew in to the North-east on Monday night amid speculation that four of his most important backers had pulled out, but Sunderland Ltd announced to the Stock Exchange yesterday that it had extended an exclusivity agreement until 30 June. The agreement ensures that the club will not invite interest from any other prospective buyer as talks continue.
