Queens Park Rangers have ended their investigation into manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink following allegations made in an undercover investigation into corruption in football.

The Telegraph secretly filmed Hasselbaink when he met undercover reporters, and he was alleged to have requested a £55,000 fee for work in the Far East. The Championship club launched an immediate investigation into the former Chelsea and Leeds striker, but they have now issued a statement to confirm that no action will be taken because The Telegraph has failed to provide any information regarding the investigation.

A statement posted on the club’s website on Friday morning read: “The club can confirm that our internal investigation has now ended concerning The Telegraph's reporting on inferences made on September 28th relating to QPR manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

“Throughout the comprehensive investigation, the club contacted and communicated with all the major parties involved, including The Telegraph, who failed to provide the club with the information previously requested.

“Despite a number of requests from both the club and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's legal team for the information relating to the inferences made on September 28th, including video footage and a full transcript of the discussions that took place, nothing has been forthcoming.

“As a result, and in the absence of any further evidence, the Board fully back QPR manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and his explanations relating to these inferences.”

Despite concluding the investigation, the west London club have reminded Hasselbaink of his responsibilities as first-team manager, but insisted that he has the board’s full backing.

“Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink openly admitted he was naive and, as such, has been reminded of his roles and responsibilities as manager of Queens Park Rangers Football Club,” the statement continued.

“He remains fully focused on his job as QPR manager, and he does so with the Board's unanimous support.”

The news will be a boost for Hasselbaink given that QPR have not got off to the best of starts in the Championship this season, with the club currently in 13th position ahead of this weekend’s clash with Reading.
