Joel McAnuff struck in the 79th minute to seal the Dons' first away win this season and take their points tally to seven from a possible 42 - delighting their 24 travelling fans.
"We put a stream of balls into the Wimbledon box and we had no one going in," said Megson. "We had 75 per cent of the possession in the first half and probably more in the second and we didn't win.
"The people who are paid to score goals aren't scoring them and that's something we have got to put right as soon as we can."
Ipswich climbed to fifth as they came from 2-0 down to beat Crystal Palace 4-3 at Selhurst Park.
Andrew Johnson's fifth goal in six games gave the Eagles an early lead and the Ipswich defence was breached again when Dougie Freedman made it 2-0 in the 16th minute.
A brace from Richard Naylor brought Ipswich level and Pablo Couñago made it 3-2 with 12 minutes to go. Freedman put the Eagles back on terms, but Shefki Kuqi netted the winner in the 89th minute to make it eight wins from nine for the Tractor Boys.
Norwich, maintained their unbeaten league run at Carrow Road with a 90th-minute strike from Phil Mulryne giving them a 2-1 victory.
The Rams took the lead through Ian Taylor's 61st-minute penalty, but Iwan Roberts levelled matters from the spot in the 81st minute before Mulryne sealed the win.
