Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Brendan Rodgers' team, who could only draw 0-0 with their championship opponents on Sunday, will play at Ewood Park on Wednesday, 8 April; the game will be shown on BT Sport 1.
The match comes just 10 days before the semi-final against Aston Villa, which is scheduled to be played at Wembley, on either 18 or 19 April.
The date of the fixtures could potentially leave fans of the winning club with a mad dash to book train tickets and accommodation in London, some of which may have already been taken by fans of the other clubs.
The huge gap between the games is because the replay cannot take place on nights where there is Champions League or Europa League matches, while there is also an international break at the end of the month.
The replay comes amidst a crucial run of fixtures of the Champions League chasers, with the club hosting Manchester United on 22 March, travelling to Arsenal just four days before, on Saturday, 4 April, and then hosting Newcastle on 13 April.
Bradford City and Reading, on the other hand, will only have to wait a week for their replay to take place, with that game being aired on BBC1 next Monday, 16 March.
