Blackburn's out-of-favour defender Darren Peacock could be heading "home" to Queen's Park Rangers in a loan deal. Peacock made his name at Loftus Road before moving to Newcastle United.
The former Argentina striker Claudio Caniggia yesterday completed his move to the Scottish Premier Division side Dundee. The 33-year-old, who was an international team-mate of Diego Maradona at the 1990 World Cup, has signed for the Dens Park club until the end of the season and is expected to make his debut against Aberdeen next week.
Caniggia said he was already familiar with Scottish football. He said: "I'm happy to be at Dundee for more than one reason. I have joined friends who are at a very ambitious club that is doing very well. My intention is to do well to repay the club for their trust in me."
Celtic have confirmed that their Danish midfielder Morten Wieghorst has been taken to hospital for tests on a virus which affects the brain nerve endings. A spokesman for the club revealed: "As a result of a recent viral infection, Morten has developed neurological complications... Since admission to hospital his condition has been stable. Tests are ongoing and his situation will be monitored closely."
A Glentoran player is facing a three-month ban after testing positive for a banned substance. The un-named player is believed to be one of two randomly tested after the Irish club's Uefa Cup match against Lillestrom in Norway on 24 August, which they lost 1-0.
