Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Blackpool 1 Bristol City 1

Are Blackpool serious contenders? We have no real stars but the spirit Ian Holloway has created is unbelievable. Burnley went up as dark horses last season and I wouldn't bet against it happening again. (Oranje, Blackpool fan)

Is Steve Coppell right for City? Without a doubt and it is an inspired piece of business from the board. He's got a history with Reading of success in the Championship on a shoestring budget so he's tailor-made for the Robins. We'll be in the play-offs next season. (TimRobins, Bristol City fan).

Coventry City 0 Watford 4

What's next for Coventry? Finishing nineteenth in the Championship is not what we were promised at the start of the season. I don't normally call for a manager's head but Chris Coleman has taken us backwards during the second half of the season. (Houchen, Coventry fan)

Who's been Watford's saviour? It's hard to pinpoint one particular player as it has been a real team effort. Malky Mackay has got the lads all pulling in the same direction and he should take credit for the way they have performed at a vital period in the season. (Rocket_Fan, Watford fan).

Derby County 2 Cardiff City 0

Are you happy with Derby's season? It speaks volumes that somebody as average as Robbie Savage was voted our player of the season. This time last year I was genuinely optimistic but I can't say the same looking ahead to the next campaign under an average managerial regime. (BaseballLad, Derby fan)

Was Dave Jones right to rest players? It's a bit annoying to make the journey to the Midlands to see what was largely a second-string side, but if we win the play-off final at Wembley nobody will care. In Dave Jones we trust! (BlueDream, Cardiff fan).

Ipswich Town 0 Sheffield United 3

Should Roy Keane be kept on? Hopefully he'll do the decent thing and walk away as this season has been an unmitigated disaster. Just when we seemed to take one step forward we took two backwards and it has been one frustration after another. (SuffolkSteve, Ipswich fan)

What now for the Blades? Kevin Blackwell has to go. Simple as! He talks a good game but his tactical decisions and substitutions are quite frankly appalling. He is the reason why we aren't at least in the play-offs this season. (Zorro, Sheffield United fan).

Leicester City 2 Middlesbrough 0

Can Leicester go up via the play-offs? We showed against Boro that we are well capable of beating the biggest clubs in this division so why not? We have a really good squad and one that has exceeded expectations all season. Wembley here we come. (FoxyJim, Leicester fan)

Has Boro's season been a disappointment? Without a shadow of a doubt yes as we should – alongside Newcastle and West Brom – have gone straight back up to the Prem. The players Gordon Strachan has brought in just haven't performed. (Whitbyred, Middlesbrough fan).

Plymouth Argyle 1 Peterborough United 2

Was it the right result? We fully deserved to lose and it's somehow fitting that we ended a dismal season by losing at home to the only side worse off than us in the table. It has been a shambles from start to finish. (LordAdmiral, Plymouth fan)

How will Posh fare next season? I have every confidence in Gary Johnson bringing us straight back up from League One. If he can keep the nucleus of the squad together, we have players that have recent experience of succeeding in that division. (onionbag78, Peterborough fan).

QPR 0 Newcastle United 1

What now for Rangers? Hopefully the owners give Neil Warnock a little bit of their much-publicised millions as he will invest it wisely. If so we could be challenging for automatic promotion next season. (Hooped, QPR fan)

Who has been United's best player? It's been a real team performance from the first to the last game. Chris Hughton deserves all the credit in the world but he's been able to rely on some brilliantly consistent performances from the likes of Kevin Nolan and Steve Harper. (toonraider, Newcastle fan).

Reading 4 Preston North End 1

How good was the performance? Preston are meant to be one of the best footballing sides in the division but we ripped them to shreds. If we can keep the squad together and add a couple of players in key positions we could be knocking on the door again next year. (wiggy, Reading fan)

Have Preston gone forward? We haven't kicked on at all since Darren Ferguson was named manager in January and I'm sceptical about his ability to lead us to promotion any time soon. It has been a long and frustrating season at Deepdale. (JanTheMan, Preston fan).

Scunthorpe United 2 Nottingham Forest 2

Why did the Iron survive? It's all well and good having superstar players but it has been proven in this division that the key to success is teamwork. Forest, Leicester and Blackpool all have it in the play-off places and we do at the bottom thanks to Nigel Adkins. (MisterIron, Scunthorpe fan)

Will Forest win the play-offs? Nobody will want to face us but my only concern is that the team which finishes third in the table has a habit of not going up through the play-off system. Records are made to be broken though! (Earnie, Nottm Forest fan).

Sheffield Wednesday 2 Crystal Palace 2

Who's to blame for relegation? The players should take a long, hard look at themselves because if they had played for the majority of the season as they did at times against Palace, we would have been safe weeks ago. Apart from Lee Grant none of them are fit to wear the shirt. (BrownOwl, Sheffield Wednesday fan)

What's next for Palace? Make no bones about it, we've survived by the skin of our teeth and we can only hope that a consortium with enough money to pay off the debts, takes us forward now that Championship football is guaranteed. (Lombardo, Crystal Palace fan).

Swansea City 0 Doncaster Rovers 0

Are Swans fans disappointed? It's disappointing to miss out on the play-offs on the final day but seventh place in the final table is no disgrace. Paulo Sousa will definitely take us up next season – and he'll do it playing football the right way. (WhiteRmy, Swansea fan)

Happy with the campaign? Considering we have suffered injuries to key players and have a lack of financial clout to create a squad with strength in depth, I think it has been a pretty good season. The highlight for me was the 2-0 victory at Sheffield Wednesday. (rover1, Doncaster fan).

West Bromwich Albion 1 Barnsley 1

How will the Baggies fare next year? We need to get rid of the yo-yo tag and really have a go at staying in the Premier League. We've played it safe in terms of investing in the squad in recent seasons and it's time to push the boat out. Now we just need the board to agree! (BaggieBird, West Brom fan)

Are Tykes fans optimistic? It's not been pretty at times but Mark Robins has kept us up and credit to him. Had Simon Davey been left in charge then we would have been down by March! (exiledtyke, Barnsley fan).
