Eagles' future in the balance
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

A group of businessmen called CPFC 2010 were yesterday granted preferred bidder status by Palace's administrator Brendan Guilfoyle, who has warned he cannot fund the club beyond the end of the season. The Eagles' stadium is currently in the hands of PricewaterhouseCoopers.
"The key to the proposed sale is the stadium and I am hopeful that the CPFC 2010 consortium can have constructive negotiations with the stadium administrator," said Guilfoyle. "However, time is of the essence, I think everyone knows that I am not currently funded beyond the last game of the 2009-10 season."
Cardiff City's players and staff received their March pay packets this morning, a day later than expected. There were fresh fears about the cash-strapped club's future yesterday when it emerged employees had not been paid on time. But the issue has quickly been resolved and was down to a delay in an international transfer of funds from Malaysian investor Dato Chan Tien Ghee, which was in part being used to cover the wage bill.
A club statement read: "As the chairman (Peter Ridsdale) informed the media yesterday, the players and staff at the club were paid today, March 30, one day before the end of the month." Cardiff are back in the High Court on 5 May over an unpaid tax bill but are hopeful of concluding an investment deal with a Malaysian consortium, represented by Dato Chan, by the end of April.
Former Bristol City manager Gary Johnson has been in contact with Peterborough over the forthcoming managerial vacancy at London Road. Posh are looking for a replacement for Jim Gannon, who leaves the Championship's bottom club at the end of the season.
Johnson, 54, left City by mutual consent earlier this month after five years at the helm, during which time he won promotion from League One in 2007 before guiding the Robins to the Championship play-off final the following year. "I have spoken to Peterborough's director of football Barry Fry... but I can't comment any further on the speculation aside to say I'm flattered to be linked with the job," Johnson said.
Carlisle striker Richard Offiong has joined Swedish side Ostersunds FK on loan until the middle of July.
Wycombe defender Luke Oliver has extended his loan at Bradford until the end of the season.
