From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Derby have completed the signing of Kilmarnock midfielder Craig Bryson for an undisclosed fee.

Bryson, a Scotland international and captain of Kilmarnock last season, has signed a three-year contract and becomes Nigel Clough's fourth summer signing following goalkeeper Frank Fielding and strike pair Jamie Ward and Theo Robinson.

Clough said: "It's a tremendous signing for us and we're delighted that Craig has chosen to come to Derby. He's a leader on and off the field and has a tremendous hunger to improve.

"We've watched him in action repeatedly over the last six months and he has energy and ability in abundance. At age 24 he's a player we see having a big impact both now and in the future."

Bryson, who started 33 of Kilmarnock's 38 Scottish Premier League games last season, skippered the side to a sixth-placed finish. He made his full international debut in November last year against the Faroe Islands.
