A Forest defeat, their eighth in succession on the road, would have sealed Newcastle's return to the Premier League but Billy Davies' side fought back to draw 1-1 thanks to Guy Moussi's 30-yard equaliser. "While we face a huge task to catch the top two, I am delighted that we are even challenging the likes of Newcastle and West Bromwich Albion," Davies said, after a game which ended in controversial fashion when City goalkeeper Dean Gerken was carried off with suspected shoulder damage following a late challenge by Nathan Tyson.
Forest face fourth-placed Cardiff at the City Ground today, with the Bluebirds still on a high from their 2-1 win over Swansea in the south Wales derby. Michael Chopra hit Cardiff's winner in injury time, his second goal of the game and manager Dave Jones said: "I was determined that it would be treated like any other match, although I know our fans will be very glad they have the bragging rights."
