From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Simon Davey has been unveiled as Hereford's new manager, just six days after his shock resignation at Darlington.

The 39-year-old last week confirmed his intention to quit the Quakers, who were last season relegated from the Football League, after just 11 weeks at the helm.

Darlington chairman Raj Singh said: "He (Davey) has very briefly cited personal reasons."

But the former Barnsley boss has penned a two-year deal to take over at Edgar Street, succeeding caretaker manager and chairman Graham Turner after he ended his 15-year association with the club by selling his shareholding and completing a switch to Shrewsbury earlier this month.

New chief David Keyte made the long-awaited appointment along with fellow new vice-chairman Tim Russon after extending their deadline due to a surge in applications.

And Davey told the club's official website: "I'm hugely impressed by their enthusiasm and passion for the club and I think the next few seasons are going to be very exciting at Edgar Street.

"It's a fresh start - a chance for a new beginning and from what I know the fans are amongst the most loyal around and hopefully they'll come out in their thousands to cheer us on."
