Bacary Sagna has officially turned down Arsenal's contract offer and has told the club he will be leaving when his contract expires next week, according to reports.

Although he has denied that a deal had already been agreed, Premier League champions Manchester City are the favourites to sign the France international on a free transfer.

Sky Sports have reported that the 31-year-old has now confirmed in writing that he will not extend his deal at the Emirates. He had been offered a two-year extension with the Gunners, but has reportedly been offered a longer deal at City.

Sagna, who has been at Arsenal for seven years, said earlier this week that he hopes to have his future sorted out before the start of the World Cup next month, but he has not yet agreed a deal with another club. PSG and Monaco are also interested.

"My situation will be sorted out before the World Cup, but I haven't signed for anyone so far. I have agreed with no one," the right-back said.

"I don't have any agreement with Manchester City or with anyone else. I have never set foot there. Several European and English clubs have contacted me."
