Harry Kane was brought down in the box by Kepa Arrizabalaga on 26 minutes, with referee Michael Oliver immediately deferring to VAR. After a brief pause in play, the decision was made to award Spurs a penalty – which Kane duly converted.
But despite the victory, Pochettino has vented his frustrations against VAR – though he insisted he remains “pro-technology”.
“I don’t just like the VAR,” he said after the win at Wembley. “At this time we get the good thing about it however after watching the World Cup and one other league like La Liga I see that no person is blissful from day one which they began to make use of it.
“To get the profit is sweet however I’m sad to win the sport like this. I choose the know-how however otherwise. Being clear. I’m pro-technology since you can’t cease evolution however we’re ready ... [But] it isn’t clear what are the principles.
“All of us must agree, the gamers, the teaching employees, I watch each week La Liga and no person is blissful, the large golf equipment and the small golf equipment. If you’re enjoying to win the title or to remain up no person is blissful.
“That could be a good instance for us. Now we have six months to enhance the system and there’s a lot of labour to do.”
