Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Villa captain Stiliyan Petrov, whose late equaliser at Selhurst Park 10 days ago forced tonight's replay, is a doubt for Martin O'Neill's side after picking up a virus. Gabriel Agbonlahor (calf) and James Collins (head) could feature after picking up knocks at the weekend. For the visitors, midfielder Neil Danns (back) will have a fitness test, while winger Sean Scannell is struggling with a groin problem. Stern John, Kieron Cadogan and Lee Hills are all cup-tied, so manager Neil Warnock could struggle to fill his bench.

Abdoulaye Faye and Andy Wilkinson are suspended, although Danny Higginbotham (back) could return. City striker Carlos Tevez misses out again on compassionate grounds, while Adam Johnson is cup-tied. Patrick Vieira is suspended after kicking Glenn Whelan in last week's league match with Stoke, while Martin Petrov (knee) is a doubt.

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp is missing Ledley King after the centre-back tore a thigh muscle in Sunday's win at Wigan. Aaron Lennon [groin] remains out after complications in his recovery, while Younes Kaboul and Kyle Walker are ineligible. Trotters manager Owen Coyle could field a number of fringe players with Vladimir Weiss and Jack Wilshere cup-tied and Mark Davies, Chris Basham and Gretar Steinsson all injury doubts. Ivan Klasnic may start as he continues his recovery from a calf injury.
West Brom v Reading
Baggies midfielder James Morrison could make a first appearance in 10 months for the hosts after recovering from a heel injury. Marek Cech [hamstring] returns, although Ben Watson and Frank Nouble are cup-tied, while Jerome Thomas is suspended. Ivar Ingimarsson returns for the Royals after overcoming a virus.
