From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Cottagers have made an encouraging start to the season, thrashing Norwich 5-0 on the opening day of the campaign and almost snatching a point at Manchester United on Saturday.
Jol is confident he has the depth in his squad to field an alternative line-up at Hillsborough.
"There will be a few changes. We have 18 or 19 players," Jol said.
"They are good enough to come in for some others. I can give three or four players a rest."
Centre Aaron Hughes predicts Fulham are going to enjoy a successful season.
"We did really well against Norwich and there's a lot we can take from the Man Utd game too," Hughes told the club's official website, http://www.fulhamfc.com.
"It's been a good start, but there's a long way to go yet.
"We're solid at the back, have players with a lot of creativity in midfield and up front we can score goals - it's a nice balance.
"With that in mind, looking ahead, we could have a good season."
