Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Stevenage Borough have received scant reward for their deserved 3-1 victory over Newcastle on Saturday, after the League Two club were handed a difficult fourth round draw against Championship side Reading at home yesterday. The Royals won at Liverpool and reached the quarter-finals in the competition last season.
Southampton achieved a couple of memorable home victories over Manchester United when the two teams were both in the top-flight, and now the League One side will have another chance when they welcome United to St Mary's after defeating Blackpool 2-0 on Saturday. It is also a repeat of the 1976 final, which the Saints won 1-0.
Four all-Premier League ties emerged from the draw, holders Chelsea, who overpowered Ipswich 7-0 at Stamford Bridge yesterday, travel to Everton, who also reached the fourth round with an emphatic 5-1 victory at Scunthorpe on Saturday. Tottenham will make the short trip across London to Craven Cottage to play Fulham. Spurs have already recorded a league double over their local rivals this season.
Bolton Wanderers face Wigan in another derby, the two sides have yet to beat each other in the two league matches this season, with both ending 1-1. Struggling Aston Villa welcome Blackburn, the clubs met in the competition last season in the third round, with Villa running out 3-1 winners at Villa Park.
League One Notts County, surprise 2-1 winners at Sunderland, face the winner of Leicester City and Manchester City, who meet in a replay next week after drawing 2-2 at the Walkers Stadium.
Shaun Harrad's late double for League Two Burton Albion against Middlesbrough has earned his team a match against managerless Championship side Burnley, while Brighton & Hove Albion, who knocked out last year's finalists, Portsmouth on Saturday, will visit Watford. The only non-League side in the draw, Crawley, go to Torquay if they beat Derby tonight.
