From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.David Dunn believes he is on the brink of achieving his boyhood dream of stepping out at Wembley in the colours of hometown club Blackburn Rovers.
Dunn's season has mirrored that of his club in terms of disappointment, but the FA Cup has offered a chink of light in a bleak period for Rovers. Dunn, now 33, came on in the 0-0 draw with Millwall at The Den on Sunday and is in line to be involved tonight in the replay at Ewood Park, as Blackburn chase an improbable semi-final appearance.
"From being a little boy, one of my dreams was to play at Wembley," said Dunn. "When we won the League Cup [in 2002] it was when Wembley was getting done, so I have never played there. I am itching to get through. It would be a dream come true. It has been a long time coming and it is good to finally get a chance to get on the pitch.
"I know it has been a difficult season and a testing time for everyone involved but hopefully now you have seen the last few weeks [we are] moving in the right direction."
