From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The Fulham striker Hugo Rodallega has hit out at manager Rene Meulensteen for showing him "a lack of respect" during Tuesday's defeat to Sheffield United in the FA Cup fourth-round replay.
Colombian Rodallega was hauled off in the 59th minute of the tie against the League One side at Craven Cottage and appeared inconsolable as he sat in the dugout, covering his head with his coat for several minutes.
"I have never experienced what happened [on Tuesday] and it is something that keeps me awake at night," Rodallega told Kick-Off, on channel Win Sport.
"I love this sport and I always want to do things right and keep my starting place. What happened [in being seen to cry] was rage, frustration and the desire to keep playing."
He added: "It was a lack of respect on the part of the coach – I feel he went too far. I didn't play a good pass and was taken off only minutes after the second half started. That broke my heart."
