Hull City's manager Steve Bruce says it is “ridiculous” and “bizarre” to have to play the FA Cup fifth round replay against Brighton next Monday night because of Uefa rules that domestic matches cannot clash with Champions League games.

That will mean Hull, who go to Cardiff in a crucial Premier League game on Saturday, and Brighton, who meet Wigan in the Championship, both playing twice in three days.

“I find that ridiculous,” Bruce said after the 1-1 draw at the Amex Stadium. “Surely we can play the same night as the Champions League you'd have thought. It's a bizarre one. Is it going to be a real problem for them? I don't think there will be many tuning out of Manchester United against Olympiakos to tune into Hull City and Brighton.”

Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton, whose tie was postponed at the weekend, must also play the same night, after Championship games on Saturday.
