From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. One Aston Villa fan was so confident his team would win the FA Cup that he went ahead and got a tattoo prior to yesterday's final with the words: "AVFC FA CUP WINNERS 2014/15".
Unfortunately for the impatient fan of the claret and blues, things didn't go as planned.
Aston Villa were completely dominated by Arsenal during the final act of the domestic season, eventually losing 4-0 at Wembley. Theo Walcott, Alexis Sanchez, Per Mertesacker and Olivier Giroud got the goals, with Tim Sherwood's side having no answers to the impressive display from the Gunners.
The result left Aston Villa fans deflated and, in the case of the tattooed supporter, in desperate need of the number of a tattoo removal clinic.
One cheeky person on Twitter pointed out that the tattoo could be easily rectified without the need to remove it all.
In contrast to Aston Villa and their fans, today Arsenal have been celebrating their victory with an open-top bus parade.
