The Gunners secured Champions League football for the eighteenth successive season, but after winning just one of their last four fixtures the club slipped to third place. It is now ten years since Arsene Wenger's side last finished in the top two.
"We wanted to get to second this year but unfortunately we couldn't manage that so now we're looking to finish the season off with the cup and it would be nice to do that."
The 23-year-old came off the bench in extra-time during last year's final, when Arsenal fought back from conceding two goals in the first ten minutes to beat Hull 3-2.
Wilshere has been limited by injury to just 22 appearances this season, and has not played any part in Arsenal's FA Cup run.
However, after starting the club's final two league fixtures, and scoring a superb goal in Arsenal's 4-1 victory over West Brom on the final day, the midfielder insisted that he is ready to start at Wembley.
"I really want to play," he said. "It's probably the biggest game of the season. I've been injured for a lot of the season so it's been frustrating and I've worked really hard to come back.
"I feel really good. Of course it's down to the manager but hopefully I will play."
