Totti agrees new Roma contract

Francesco Totti has revealed he has finally agreed a new contract which is likely to see him end his career with AS Roma.

The Giallorossi skipper has been locked in lengthy negotiations with the club during the past few months but has finally agreed terms on a new deal which will effectively keep the 33-year-old playmaker at the Stadio Olimpico until he hangs up his boots.

"We signed the papers and are just waiting for Roma to deposit it," he revealed.

"The club will decide when to do that. We are waiting for the right moment."

Meanwhile, Totti has suggested that he could make a return to international football ahead of next summer's World Cup finals.

His last appearance for the Azzurri was in their 2006 World Cup Final success.

"Everybody is talking about this but in the end (coach Marcello) Lippi and I will make the decision," revealed Totti.

"I like the fact that Lippi talks well about me, we always had a great relationship on and off the pitch.

"March or April will be the decisive month to see how I feel."

AC Milan's Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is hoping to build on the confidence boost he gained from scoring his first goals in a Rossoneri shirt at the weekend.

The 26-year-old summer signing from Real Madrid netted both goals in a 2-0 win over Catania and is eager to make them the first of many.

He said: "I have worked so hard to show my game and I hope I can continue to improve. I hope I can continue like this.

"These two goals for me are a starting point, now I feel like a Milan player. The only thing I was missing was goals, but now I don't want to stop."

Meanwhile, Rossoneri head coach Leonardo has urged midfield powerhouse Gennaro Gattuso to stay put, despite becoming frustrated at a lack of first-team starts.

The Brazilian said: "If Gattuso has this idea in his head, I will try to make him change his mind. I always speak to Gattuso and try to be very clear.

"The other day I showed him the midfield of the top five teams in Europe and he would not have been a starter in any of those. Why leave, only to be relegated to the bench somewhere else?"

At Juventus, president Jean Claude Blanc has voiced his support for head coach Ciro Ferrara, despite the Turin giants having dropped to third place in the Serie A standings.

A 2-0 reverse at Cagliari saw Juve fall eight points adrift of leaders Internazionale, but Blanc is in no mood to make a panic change.

He told the Italian media: "The next few games won't change our project, we will stick to it.

"I saw my boys really mad. This hunger and rage can be turned into great results.

"Many big clubs have been suffering from a deep crisis. That's the way football works, but we will get out of this tunnel."

Meanwhile, Juve expect defender Giorgio Chiellini to be back in action for next weekend's showdown with Inter after he underwent surgery to correct the broken nose his suffered against Cagliari.

A statement on the club's official website read: "Giorgio Chiellini underwent surgery on Monday morning to reduce the fracture of his nasal bones.

"The surgery was a perfect success and Chiellini will be discharged later on Monday. He will be able to train with a protective mask on Wednesday and Thursday."
