Sergio Ramos has mocked Liverpool’s reaction to the Champions League final, saying: “I am only missing Firmino saying that he got a cold because a drop of my sweat.”

The Real Madrid captain was at the heart of several talking points in Kiev, where his side beat Liverpool 3-1 to be crowned European champions for the third successive year.

Ramos hauled Mohamed Salah to the floor during the first half which caused the Egyptian to leave the pitch in tears with a shoulder injury – something which brought accusations of a deliberate move to hurt Liverpool’s leading scorer, a petition to see him punished by football’s authorities as well as the threat of a law suit.

He also caught the Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius with his arm less than three minutes before Karius made a major error which led to Real’s first goal, something which has subsequently been linked to a concussion the German keeper is said to have suffered during the match.

In an interview with Spanish sports daily AS, Ramos was asked about the reaction to Salah’s injury, and responded: “Bloody hell, they’ve given this a lot of attention, the Salah thing.

“I didn’t want to speak because everything is magnified. I see the play well, he grabs my arm first and I fell to the other side, the injury happened to the other arm and they said that I gave him a judo hold.

"After the goalkeeper said that I dazed him with a clash with me I am only missing Firmino saying that he got a cold because a drop of my sweat.

“I spoke with Salah through messages he was quite good. He could have played if he got an injection for the second half, I have done it sometimes but when Ramos does something like this, it sticks a little bit more.

"I don’t know if it’s because you’re at Madrid for so long and win for so long that people look at it a different way.”

Salah looks to be winning his battle to be fit for the World Cup after he was been named in Egypt's squad for this summer’s competition in Russia.

His participation was initially in doubt but a trip to a specialist in Spain days later revealed he would take three weeks to recover – thus making him fit for the final two games of Egypt’s group.

He still could make the first game, against Uruguay, although it will be touch and go whether he makes it or not.

Salah posted a photograph on Twitter on Sunday showing himself exercising that damaged left shoulder with a resistance band, with the caption “good feelings…”

Egypt begin their World Cup campaign against Uruguay in Ekaterinburg on June 15.
