From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. After facing each other in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday, Real Madrid and Barcelona FC go again in El Clasico on Saturday night.

A bizarre game on Wednesday night saw Real Madrid largely dominate proceedings but Barcelona run out 3-0 winners, sealing their place in the Copa del Rey final for the sixth consecutive year.

In the league, Real are nine points off Barca and two points off city rivals Atletico.

Barcelona have a seven-point lead at the top of La Liga, and can open up a 12-point lead between them and Real with a win.

The reverse league fixture in October was the final nail in former Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui’s coffin, as Real were humiliated 5-1 at the Camp Nou where Luis Suarez scored a hat-trick.
