Famed Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto, known for collaborations with adidas and Hermes as well as a number of celebrities, is the brains behind the bizarre kit.
The adidas blurb said: "The design collaboration aims to unify the values of Madridismo focused on its two main elements, greatness and determination. Both elements are represented by two mythical beasts which originate from Eastern culture.
"King Dragon symbolises the greatness, glory and power of the club. Bird Dragon, an animal that is able to relive in the most hostile situations, represents the club's resistance, determination and agility on its way to the victory."
Gareth Bale was one of five players to parade the new kit in front of press, along with new summer signing James Rodriguez, Brazilian left-back Marcelo, long-serving goalkeeper Iker Casillas and veteran midfielder Xabi Alonso.
