Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial return for Manchester United against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League tonight, following their short lay-offs through injury.

The pair missed Saturday’s late 2-1 victory over Watford after picking up injuries during the international break, when they faced each other in England’s friendly against France.

Their respective injuries had left manager Louis van Gaal with something of a crisis up front. Memphis Depay was eventually chosen to spearhead United’s attack and, having scored the opening goal on Saturday, is repaid with another start tonight.

Van Gaal has made two further changes, welcoming Matteo Darmian back into the right-back role in place of Ashley Young.

Marcos Rojo, who gave away the late penalty that led to Watford’s equaliser on Saturday, starts in place of Phil Jones in the centre of defence.

Van Gaal’s side can ensure qualification from Group B with a win tonight.
