Manchester United and Liverpool have both been charged by Uefa after crowd trouble marred their Europa League clash on Thursday night.

The two sets of supporters were seen fighting in the stands, while chairs were ripped out and flares were thrown.

Five men were arrested during the 1-1 draw that saw Liverpool progress to the quarter-final of the competition.

Liverpool have been charged with making illicit chants and setting off fireworks.

Uefa will hear the case on 19 May.

Ahead of kick-off on Thursday, police were forced to remove a banner on the M602 motorway in Salford with the slogan 'Murderers'.
