Bochum's battle to avoid relegation has taken a knock after Christian Fuchs was sidelined with a knee injury.
Initial reports had suggested the Austria defender was facing up to 12 months on the sidelines after rupturing his cruciate ligament while away on international duty last week.
Subsequent scans have revealed only slight damage to the ligament and bruised knee cartilage.
However, the full-back is still facing up to three weeks on the sidelines at a time when 14th-placed Bochum are looking to avoid being dragged into the relegation dogfight.
Elsewhere, Borussia Monchengladbach have received a double injury blow as they look to avoid relegation from the Bundesliga.
Striker Rob Friend has been ruled out of Sunday's crunch clash with fellow strugglers Karlsruhe after picking up a heel injury in training.
However, the news concerning Sebastien Jaures is more serious after the defender was ruled out for the remainder of the season.
The Frenchman has undergone surgery on his knee after scans confirmed his suffered a partial tear of the outer meniscus during the international break.
