Luis Suarez says that Lionel Messi, his team-mate at Barcelona, is a better player than Cristiano Ronaldo.

Suarez will play alongside Messi for the first time on Saturday, when he makes his Barca debut against Ronaldo's Real Madrid in El Clasico at the Bernabeu.

The controversial Uruguayan's suspension for biting Italy's Giorgio Chiellini during the World Cup ends on Friday, the day before th crucial match.

The debate on who is the best player out of Messi and Ronaldo has raged for years, but for Suarez there is only one winner.

"In my opinion Leo is better [than Ronaldo]," Suarez was quoted as saying by Mirror.

"I train and play with Leo every day and he surprises me every day. He is unique.

"Everybody knows what he has brought to Barcelona, what kind of world-class player he is.

“For me he is the best player in the world for what he has already done, and he’s still so young."

Suarez joined Barcelona for £75m from Liverpool back in July.
