The 30-year-old finally appears to be settled in Seville after being linked with a transfer to Tottenham in the summer and dropping out of the first-team picture in the opening weeks of the campaign.
However, he now seems to be enjoying his football again, saying: "The team have been playing below their level in recent seasons, but our goal should be to be in the top three.
"I hope to one day win the league with Sevilla, but I know that it is very difficult to contest the title with Real Madrid and Barcelona.
"I am however optimistic that the club is entering a new cycle and I think that Gregorio Manzano is a great coach and a very good person."
