Liverpool and Salzburg meet for the first time ever in tonight’s Champions league meeting at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp's side will be looking to put their 2-0 loss to Napoli behind them as they face the Austrian club.

But Salzburg do not appear to be the same proposition they appeared to be when the Champions League draw was made, having thrashed Genk 6-2 to announce themselves as a threat to emerge from the group.

Salzburg will be familiar to Sadio Mane and Naby Keita, with both featuring for the club before eventually winding up at Anfield.

Here are three of Salzburg’s latest talents who could cause problems for the holders tonight.

Erling Braut Håland

Erling Håland, The son of former Leeds, Nottingham Forest and Manchester City midfielder Alf Inge, has emerged as one Europe’s most discussed strikers after scoring a hat-trick in his Champions League debut against Genk.

The Norwegian, who has scored 17 goals in 10 games so far this season, has been likened to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, one of his idols, due to the pair sharing both a ruthless streak in front of goal and confidence in their own ability.

Håland’s potential has been obvious for a number of years, and it is now looking like he has taken a leap to attract clubs around Europe. Manchester United are believed to be interested, though Haland is likely to have his pick whenever the time comes to depart Salzburg.

He has travelled to Merseyside with hopes of following in the footsteps of his father who scored for Leeds United at Anfield in 1997, however more importantly he will hope to earn the win, something his father failed to do.

The 19-year-old, who won the Under-20 World Cup Golden Boot, is seen by Jürgen Klopp to be significant enough a threat that the Reds boss has been cautious about revealing his plans when asked about his tactics to stop the forward in tonight’s match

Klopp said: “He is a wonderful player: very young, very confident, very quick. He looks clear minded and focused on the pitch.

“He looks a decent player and is in the perfect place at the moment. I hope he can play as long as possible. He is not the only threat for us, unfortunately, but he is a proper one.”

Dominik Szoboszlai

Dominik Szoboszlai is reportedly set to be watched by a number of clubs tonight, with Arsenal thought to be one of them tracking the Hungarian.

Having made his breakthrough into the Salzburg first team last season, the 18-year-old has quickly established himself as a key player for his side due to his ability to control a game with his power and ball control.

Salzburg have enjoyed an impressive start to this season, with this young midfielder key to the 6-2 opening victory and opening his account in Europe with one goal.

Hwang-Hee Chan

In his Champions League debut against Genk, Hwang Hee-chan scored one goal and set up two more, becoming the third South Korean player to ever score in the competition - following in the footsteps of Park Ji-sung and Son Heung-min.

The 23-year-old has been linked to Premier League clubs before, with rumours of interest from Tottenham.

But with no deal agreed, Hwang joined Hamburg on loan but his progress was limited by injury as the side tried and failed to win promotion out of the 2. Bundesliga.

However, despite an unsuccessful spell out on loan, Hwang has demonstrated his true potential this season, scoring four goals in just seven appearances.

If Hwang can maintain his exceptional performances he could be the latest talent at Salzburg to be targeted by clubs from some of Europe's bigger leagues.
