Marouane Fellaini will start for Manchester United in their Europa League clash with Liverpool at Anfield tonight.

The Belgium international is one of three changes to Louis van Gaal’s side from Sunday’s defeat at West Bromwich Albion.

Matteo Darmian and Michael Carrick drop to the bench to be replaced by Guillermo Varela and Morgan Schneiderlin respectively.

Fellaini, who has started in each of Van Gaal’s four wins over Liverpool, replaces Ander Herrera, who is believed to have sustained a slight injury in training yesterday.

Jurgen Klopp has put his faith in Daniel Sturridge, who takes Divock Origi’s place in the starting line-up which snatched a late win at Crystal Palace on Sunday.

James Milner, suffering from an illness, drops out of the squad entirely to be replaced by Philippe Coutinho. Jon Flanagan is also absent, with his spot taken by Nathaniel Clyne.

Christian Benteke, who won and scored the decisive penalty at Selhurst Park, is named among the substitutes.

Line-ups

Liverpool: Mignolet, Clyne, Lovren, Sakho, Moreno, Can, Henderson, Lallana, Coutinho, Firmino, Sturridge

Substitutes: Ward, Toure, Benteke, Allen, Origi, Smith, Ojo

Manchester United: De Gea, Varela, Smalling, Blind, Rojo, Schneiderlin, Fellaini, Memphis, Mata, Martial, Rashford
