European night's returned to Liverpool and with it brought the drama one expects.

Against the unfancied Ludogorets, Liverpool were expected to make a serene return to the Champions League. However, their Bulgarian opponents offered more than most expected.

In the end, Liverpool came out on top after some late drama.

Mario Balotelli scored his first Liverpool goal and looked to have won the Reds the game. But Dani Abalo had other ideas and equalised for Ludogorets in injury time.

There was still enough time though for Steven Gerrard to score from the spot - which he did.
