From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Defending champions Liverpool have announced the 20 players that will be travelling to Naples ahead of the first round of Champions League group games this week.

Divock Origi has not joined the travelling party, after suffering an ankle injury in Saturday’s win against Newcastle.

Rhian Brewster has taken his place in the squad, after the forward was subbed after just 15 minutes in a youth team fixture on the same day with a view to a first-team call up.

After starting against Newcastle, Andy Robertson has journeyed with the team despite missing Monday’s training at Melwood. Ki-Jana Hoever instead trained with the first team, but has not been named.

Adrian remains Liverpool’s primary goalkeeper, and is joined by Andy Lonergan and youngster Caoimhin Kelleher.

Liverpool squad in full: Fabinho, Virgil Van Dijk, Georginio Wijnaldum, Dejan Lovren, James Milner, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Joe Gomez, Adrian, Jordan Henderson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Adam Lallana, Andy Lonergan, Xherdan Shaqiri, Rhian Brewster, Andrew Robertson, Joel Matip, Caoimhin Kelleher, Trent Alexander-Arnold.
