Liverpool will play RB Leipzig in the last 16 of the Champions League.

It will be the first ever meeting between the sides, who are connect by the late Gerard Houllier, who passed away on Monday.

The Frenchman managed the Reds to a famous treble and was recently the global head of football for Red Bull’s many franchises around the world.

Leipzig eliminated Manchester United in the group stage with a thrilling 3-2 win in game week six to finish second behind PSG.

The Reds made it through the group stage, finishing top in Group D ahead of Atalanta, who qualified as runners-up, with Ajax and Midtjylland eliminated.

The Reds fell at the last 16 last season, with Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid pulling off the upset at Anfield in extra-time.

Elsewhere, Manchester City will play Borussia Monchengladbach, while holders Bayern Munich will play Lazio.

Frank Lampard’s Chelsea will play Atletico Madrid, with FC Porto taking on Juventus and Barcelona taking on PSG.
