That seems a little harsh.
For Messi, odds-on favourite to win the Ballon d'Or it's understandable, given he only managed to play in three of their six matches (still managing to score three goals and add an assist), but Neymar and Suarez were both brilliant in the group stages.
In an extemely tough group that included Roma and Bayer Leverkusen, Barcelona went unbeaten, winning four matches despite the absence of Messi for three games.
Suarez scored five goals and added two assists, including a crucial winner in a late win against Bayer, while Neymar added two goals and four assists to what has been a brilliant campaign.
The men picked in their place also had stellar Group stages of their own.
Cristiano Ronaldo forgot his league form to score 11 goals and add three assists as Real Madrid went unbeaten against PSG, Shakthar Donetsk and Malmo to top Group A.
Zenit striker Hulk scored three goals and added four assists as the Russian club topped Group H ahead of Gent, Valencia and Lyon, winning five of six matches.
The final place went to Bayern Munich striker Thomas Muller. He scored five goals and added two assists as Pep Guardiola's team finished top with five wins from six in the same group as Arsenal, Olympiacos and Dinamo Zagreb.
