Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Rossoneri had hoped to reduce the gap to Inter to one point after the Nerazzurri lost 2-1 at Roma on Saturday.
However, Sunday's result left AC Milan in third place, two points behind Roma and three points adrift of league leaders Inter with seven games remaining.
"Are Roma or Inter favourite to win the tittle? No, AC Milan is," said Leonardo after his team's draw at the San Siro.
"This is a strange season, every game is a challenge and there are many surprises.
"There are still seven games remaining and anything can happen."
Milan will have to step up their game as they have mustered just two points from their last three matches.
"Inter have a squad that allows them to compete in several competitions," said Leonardo. "Roma are in great form but even though recent results have not gone our way, we have also shown we can deliver in the past.
"We now hope to get some players back to help us in our fight for the title."
Milan visit Cagliari on Saturday still without injured striker Alexandre Pato.
Roma make the journey to Bari this weekend and Inter host Bologna.
