Your support makes all the difference.Longford Town player Patrick Flynn was in for a surprise when he started scrolling his Twitter timeline last night.
The Irish right-back, formely of Wolverhampton Wanderers, Torquay United and Kidderminster Harriers, was happily browsing social media until he saw a live match update from his club's official account and realised he was supposed to be there.
Longford, who play in the League of Ireland Premier Division, were midway through a Leinster Senior Cup quarter-final against Shamrock Rovers when Flynn became aware that he'd have to get his skates on.
Despite the hint of mild panic in Flynn's initial tweet and promise that he was on his way to the ground, the 30-year-old soon gave up on any hope of getting his boots on.
In an exchange with Shamrock's official account, he admitted he'd cut his losses and decided to stop off for a quick bite.
Shamrock eventually ran out 1-0 victors over Flynn's side, thanks to a goal from Gareth McCaffrey.
As to the whereabouts of Flynn, it seems like even Longford were still in dark.
However, Flynn has resurfaced on social media this morning and seems to have been on a wind up.
According to Irish radio station Newstalk, Flynn was injured for Tuesday night's cup tie and his tweets this morning would seem to confirm that he has, in the parlance of the platform, 'trolled' Twitter.
