Juventus are back in 2020 and not top of Serie A, meaning they are in the middle of a legitimate title race with leaders Inter Milan.

Only goal difference separates the sides, but with Antonio Conte’s side facing Napoli later on Monday, it gives Maurizio Sarri the chance to firmly apply the pressure here if they can secure victory over Cagliari.

The Sardinians are enjoying a fine season themselves and currently sit sixth, but entered the mid-season break with two straight losses.

Joao Pedro (11) is currently the third highest scorer in Serie A and the man to stop for the Bianconeri, he sits one place and one goal ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo in the capocannoniere race.

Here’s how you can watch the champions open up for the new year.

When is it?

The game kicks off on Monday 6 January at 2pm GMT.

How can I watch it and is there a live stream?

The match will be on Premier Sports 1 and can be streamed live from all mobile devices.

Coverage begins at 1:50pm GMT. You can subscribe to Premier Sports here. Alternatively you can follow the game live with Indy Football.

Predicted line-ups

Juventus: Szczesny; Cuadrado, De Ligt, Bonucci, Sandro; Ramsey, Pjanic, Matuidi, Dybala; Higuain, Ronaldo

Cagliari: Olsen; Farago, Walukiewicz, Klavan, Pellegrini; Rog, Cigarini, Nandez; Nainggolan; Pedro, Simeone

Team news

Sami Khedira and Giorgio Chiellini remain out injured, while Rodrigo Bentancur is suspended. Fabio Pisacane is suspended for Cagliari, with Leonardo Pavoletti, Alessio Cragno and Luca Ceppitelli all out injured.

Prediction

With fellow title contenders Inter facing a tough test against Napoli later, Juve will be extra determined to move three points clear ahead of the big evening kick-off. Maurizio Sarri’s side should have too much at home after the break with that extra focus and motivation from a genuine challenge in the league, but Cagliari have not been blanked since August and sit sixth in Serie A. So we expect them to break through at the Allianz Stadium but the Old Lady to prevail.

Juventus 3-1 Cagliari
