Jesse Lingard and three Manchester United legends sat with the club's away fans during the 2-0 Europa League defeat to Liverpool on Thursday night.

The 23-year-old, who has been at United since he was eight, posted a short video to Instagram ahead of kick-off, showing him sitting with fans in the away section at Anfield.

He posted the caption "come on the boys #awaydays" as fans around him sang.

Also sitting with the away support were three of the club's biggest players of the 1990s - Gary Pallister, Dennis Irwin and Andrew Cole.

The trio won 16 Premier League titles between them, making more than 1,000 appearances under Sir Alex Ferguson who, of course, was also at the match.

However, the club legends all had to watch on as Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firmino gave bitter rivals Liverpool a commanding 2-0 lead heading into the second leg at Old Trafford next week.

Lingard, missing from the game because of suspension, is expected to return next week.

It's not the first time United players have sat with fans at Anfield this season, Michael Carrick, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo were in the away end when Wayne Rooney scored to give United a 1-0 win at the stadium in January.
