Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Gary Neville has received public support from the Valencia hierarchy as Los Che suffered another defeat in the Spanish league.
The 1-0 home defeat to Sporting Gijon, who are second bottom of La Liga, means Neville has now failed to win in all eight of his league matches since taking charge.
The former Manchester United captain admitted the defeat was the "worst result of the season".
However, Neville, who reacted angrily to reporters after the defeat, has been given the full support by Valencia sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch.
"Gary has only been with us a short time," he said.
"He didn’t prepare the team in pre-season, so the situation wasn’t easy when he arrived.
"I have total confidence [in Neville] and I give him all of my support. We’re calm and we know he’s going to turn this situation around."
Neville has won four of five matches in the Copa Del Rey, with Valencia to meet Barcelona in the semi-final first leg on Wednesday.
