Gareth Bale claims his 'best is yet to come' at Real Madrid and says Cristiano Ronaldo is 'incredible'

Gareth Bale has promised Real Madrid supporters that his “best is yet to come”, and has described playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo as “incredible”.

The £86m Welshman initially received criticism in Spain after moving to Madrid during the summer, and was even labelled as "the worst Real Madrid player" by the press during the 2-1 El Clasico defeat last month. But Bale now claims he has nearly recovered from the back and thigh injuries which he suffered with at the start of the season, and although he has made five assists and scored four goals already, the forward claims he has not been near his peak.

"The best is yet to come," the 24-year-old told Real Madrid TV. "I've just finished my pre-season and I can still give more.

"Now I'll be able to score more goals and help the team achieve success.

"It was just a matter of time until I got to 100 per cent. Now everyone is seeing what I can do.

"I need to keep working and hopefully there will be more goals."

Ronaldo, the player whom Bale took the mantle of the world’s most expensive player when he signed from Tottenham, has linked up well with the Portuguese, who has scored a total of 24 goals this season.

"Cristiano is incredible, he scores hat-tricks every week," Bale said about the forward, who joined from Manchester United for £80m in 2009. "It's a pleasure to play with him."
