The Frenchman underwent surgery on Thursday on a burst blood vessel in his buttock.
Ribery, who came third in the recent awarding of the Ballon d'Or award, missed the 2-0 victory over Nuremberg in the Bundesliga at the weekend. It was hoped that he would fit for the first leg game against Arsenal which will be played on February 19, with Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola saying last week: "Hopefully, he can play in London."
However, Bayern have revealed he will not have recovered in time for the game at the Emirates.
"Ribery will miss (the) next few games including the first leg against Arsenal," the Champions League holders said in a statement.
Ribery will begin his rehabilitation this week before resuming running next week.
Is is unclear if he will have recovered in time for the second leg at the Allianz Arena which will be played in March 11.
