From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Alexis Sanchez is the only Arsenal player to make the Fifa Ballon d'Or 23-man list, which was revealed today.

There is no room for German playmaker Mesut Ozil, who was the last Arsenal player to make the 23-man list in 2013.

Sanchez has carried on his terrific form from last season into this campaign. The Chile ace, who helped guide his country to the Copa America during the summer, has scored 10 goals in his last six games at club and international level.

Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is on the list for the coach of the year award. Wenger led the lub to FA Cup success last season.

THE BALLON D'OR 23 MAN LIST

The list of nominees for the player of the year award will be shortened to the final three contenders for the Ballon d'Or Award on 30 November.

The winners of Ballon d'Or and Coach of the Year will be announced 11 January.
