Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. With Arsenal's injury crisis seemingly ever-worsening, Arsene Wenger will now have to turn to his third-choice goalkeeper for the Champions League clash against Anderlecht on Wednesday.
Emiliano Martinez, 22, is set to play just his third competitive match for the Gunners with Wojciech Szczesny and David Ospina both unavailable for the tie.
Martinez made his Arsenal debut against Coventry City in the League Cup in September 2012, a 6-1 victory. In his other game he conceded five in the memorable 7-5 victory over Reading a month later.
The 6ft 4in goalkeeper spent part of last season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship, where he played 15 matches and kept two clean sheets, and had a previous loan spell at Oxford United.
Signed from Independiente in 2010, Martinez has represented Argentina at both Under-17 and Under-20 level.
Szczesny is suspended for the game after he was sent off at the Emirates in the 4-1 victory over Galatasaray, while Ospina unfortunately picked up an injury during training.
Martinez, who previously went under the name Damian, is a regular for Arsenal's Under-21 squad and is believed to be rated very highly by Arsenal staff.
