From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Werder Bremen's Diego has signed for Juventus, according to a claim from his agent.

The 24-year-old Brazil playmaker has been linked with the Turin club for the past 12 months and has often spoken of his admiration for Italian football.

However, agent Giacomo Petralito claims his client has now officially signed for the Serie A side for next season after the two clubs agreed a fee in the region of £20m.

"Diego has signed for Juventus," he told Kicker. "Everything happened last Wednesday."

Diego has scored 33 goals in 87 matches for this season's Uefa Cup finalists.

Meanwhile, prolific striker Grafite has pledged his future to Wolfsburg despite reported interest from several major European clubs.

Grafite has scored 23 goals in 22 league appearances for the title-chasing Wolves this season and is happy to remain at the Volkswagen Arena.

However, the 30-year-old frontman has warned the club's hierarchy that he wants to discuss improved terms on his contract.

"I'm very happy to be a Wolfsburg player and I don't want to leave the club," said the Brazilian.

"However, it's up to the management to offer me a new contract."

Elsewhere, Hamburg defender Joris Mathijsen claims the club needs to make some quality signings in the summer if they are to seriously challenge for honours.

Hamburg reached the semi-finals of the German Cup and UEFA Cup this season before being beaten by Werder Bremen on both occasions, while their Bundesliga title challenge has faltered in recent weeks.

"We have done our utmost this campaign, but we lack the depth to compete in several competitions until the end," said Mathijsen.

"We really need some quality signings in the upcoming transfer window."
